Joe joined Alliiance in 2005. A senior project architect, Joe has deep expertise in designing and developing high-performance building envelopes, and has become the go-to person in our office for complex questions about building enclosures. He has long been interested in digital design practices and technology innovations that shape architecture.

Clients and colleagues alike appreciate Joe’s sharing of his expertise in performance analytical tools (daylighting, energy, thermal) and his ability to distill results down to actionable insights. He knows how to introduce innovations into designs while respecting the limitations of each client’s specific budget and culture.

Joe earned a bachelor’s degree at Macalester College in St. Paul and a master’s in architecture from Columbia University in New York City. He is an active member of AIA Minnesota’s TAP (Technology and Practice) committee and a member of the Building Enclosure Council. Whenever possible Joe is outside, often with a backpack, hiking from hut-to-hut in Sweden or from crest-to-crest on the Superior Hiking Trail.
