Alliiance’s work on Spokane International Airport’s Terminal Renovation and Expansion (TREX) Program was recently featured in Simple Flying!

With over four million passengers per year and exponential growth on the horizon, the TREX Program is more than a necessary upgrade—it’s a pivotal transformation setting the stage for future growth, efficient operations, and a world-class passenger experience in Spokane, Washington.

The first phase of the multi-phase program, the Concourse C West Terminal Expansion, is a six-gate $145 million development. The first three gates opened in June 2024 with the construction of the three-gate replacement of Alaska Airlines’ ground boarding gates commencing right after.

Design is underway for the heart of the overall project—a new Central Hall which includes a centralized baggage claim area with a consolidated checkpoint. Concourse connectors will link the Central Hall to all three of the airport’s concourses. The project also includes inbound roadway modifications, curbside canopy improvements, new airport police department operations space, select interior renovations, and is pursuing LEED certification.

Our design emphasizes a seamless passenger experience through sustainability, accessibility, technology-rich amenities, and a strong regional identity. Notable features include:

  • Expanded accessibility, including assisted listening technology at gates, multi-use information displays, and companion care rooms
  • A nursing mothers’ room including private suites and a lounge
  • Smart windows that improve passenger comfort and minimize energy use
  • An open-air plaza for relaxation and gathering
  • Finishes that celebrate the Inland Northwest, such as Montanan basalt tiles and custom mosaics of local landmarks
  • Gate hold technology to improve operational efficiency
